The US is foolishly provoking a simultaneous confrontation with Russia and China

Washington is foolishly creating a strategic overstretch and provoking a simultaneous confrontation with Moscow and Beijing. Ted Galen Carpenter writes about this in a piece for The American Conservative.

As the piece notes, the hostile course of US foreign policy towards China and Russia simultaneously is fraught with enormous risks and costs.

The current approach of the White House will intensify the already alarming strategic overstretch, which is draining the United States, the author believes.

According to Carpenter, if the US is determined to pursue a confrontation against either of these two countries, it is necessary to repair relations with the “lesser adversary” – Russia.

Washington’s political incompetence has already led to a two-front cold war, but if the administration of President Joe Biden continues in the same vein, the situation will escalate into a two-front hot war with nuclear consequences, he added.

Earlier, Russian leader Vladimir Putin said that the US is forcing its allies to worsen relations with Russia and China.

As reported by Global Times, a report by an inter-party congressional commission suggests that the idea of the possibility of a simultaneous nuclear war with Russia and China is spreading among the US elite.
