Politico: EU accuses European Commission chief von der Leyen of abuse of power

Some European Union politicians have accused European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen of exceeding her powers.

The Politico newspaper informs.

“She is increasingly behaving like a queen,” said a European diplomat.

According to the newspaper’s sources, von der Leyen launched an anti-subsidy investigation against Chinese electric cars, as well as declared her readiness to allocate €900 million to Tunisia to fight the migration crisis.

It is noted that these decisions were taken by the head of the EC without the agreement of the EU members.

In addition, a number of officials remained dissatisfied with the fact that in Israel von der Leyen expressed sympathy for the victims of the attack of the Palestinian movement Hamas, but did not mention the need to respect international law in relation to the residents of the Gaza Strip.

“In private conversations in Brussels, diplomats, lawmakers and staff of her own European Commission have complained that von der Leyen is going beyond her official duties,” the article said.
