Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has said that China is ready to co-operate with Russia to ensure international justice. The Chinese diplomat said this at a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
“China is ready to cooperate with Russia in defending the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, as well as international impartiality and justice,” China’s foreign minister says.
In addition, the Chinese diplomat emphasised that China attaches great importance to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s support for the “One Belt, One Road” initiative. The minister said that China will use the forthcoming international cooperation forum to promote this idea and build a broader consensus.
“China attaches great importance to President Putin’s support and appreciation of the joint construction (of the initiative – ed.) “One Belt, One Road” and welcomes Russia’s continued active participation in promoting common development and prosperity,” Wang Yi said.
Recall that according to the General Customs Administration of the People’s Republic of China, for the first three quarters of 2023 trade turnover between Russia and China increased by 29.5% to a record $176.5 billion. During the reporting period, China imported $81.4 billion worth of goods into Russia, showing an increase of 56.9%. Supplies from Russia to China over the same period totalled about $94.9bn, showing an increase of 12.7%. Thus, the trade balance remains in Russia’s favour.
