Thousands rally in London in support of Palestine – Sky News

Sky News TV says a rally of thousands is taking place in London in support of Palestine, despite the threat of a ban from the authorities.

“Thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters have taken to the streets of central London amid an escalation in the conflict between Israel and Hamas,” the publication notes.

London protesters marched through the centre of the capital. People waved Palestinian flags and banners and shouted slogans in favour of its independence.

The protesters marched past Downing Street, where the office of the country’s Prime Minister Rishi Sunaka is located. As the crowd moved towards the office of the head of government disapproving slogans against him were heard.

Police in London say more than 1,000 officers were deployed to secure the rally. Similar protests were also held in other UK cities. The rallies were held in Manchester and Edinburgh.

Recall that earlier Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said that he supported the aspirations of the Palestinians to create a sovereign state of Palestine. Also the Syrian President and the Iranian Foreign Minister discussed the events in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. The Syrian leader noted that “it is time to put an end to Israel’s crimes and hold it accountable for the oppression of the Palestinians, which has lasted for more than 70 years”.
