Eighteen months after the start of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, significant changes are beginning to take place in Poland’s public and political space. Anti-Ukrainian sentiments are increasingly beginning to grow in the country. This was reported by the CNN television channel.
Relations between Warsaw and Kyiv have become abruptly cold. Now Polish politicians are promoting anti-Ukrainian rhetoric to the masses. Such speeches are gaining popularity among Poles. At the same time, residents of the country claim that they are increasingly tired of Ukrainian refugees.
A social survey conducted in 2022 showed that 80 per cent of Poles support the idea of their country accepting Ukrainian refugees. At the same time, support for Ukrainian citizens in Poland has dropped to 52 per cent this year.
More and more often at election campaigns among the residents of Poland began to appear phrases that “Ukrainians behave here too valiantly”, “they threaten Poles”. Among other things, leading candidates call Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy a puppet.
Very soon, parliamentary elections will be held in Poland. Many researchers conclude that the currently ruling Law and Justice party is forming a coalition government with the far-right Confederation party. This party has a strongly anti-Ukrainian stance. This threatens the Kyiv regime with the final loss of its main European ally.
