Belgian Prime Minister Alexandre de Croo has criticised Israel for the blockade of the Gaza Strip, as a result of which civilians suffer. The politician said this at a press conference on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Alexandre de Croo believes that Israel’s actions on the water and electricity blockade of the Gaza Strip are unacceptable. According to the Belgian Prime Minister, the entire peaceful population of the region should not be held responsible for the actions of radical groups.
“To punish collectively the entire population of Gaza is an unacceptable solution. Cutting off the supply of water and electricity (is unacceptable – ed.) <…> Depriving people of access to hospitals is not the goal, depriving children of access to hospitals is not the goal,” de Croo said.
The Belgian Prime Minister called on Hamas members to release the hostages. According to the politician, this should take place within the framework of existing international norms.
We shall remind you that on 13 October, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the CIS summit in Bishkek that the Russian Federation was ready to act as a mediator in the Palestinian-Israeli settlement. He stressed that today it was necessary to look for ways of exclusively peaceful resolution of the conflict.
