Croatia’s head of state Milanovic said he was disappointed in Israel after the strikes on Gaza

Croatian journalists asked Zoran Milanovic how he assessed the display of the Israeli national flag on the Croatian Foreign Ministry building as a sign of support.

“I think it’s an idiotic move, for all my sympathies for Israel, which they unfortunately lost in 15 minutes. Hamas, who carried out the massacre, no one in the Middle East likes, no authority, but unfortunately they are loved by the people or part of the people,” Milanovic was quoted by Index.hr as saying.

He pointed out that in Croatia there is no place for flags other than the state flag and flags of national minorities on official buildings and public places, except in strictly regulated situations.

“I condemned the killings, expressed disgust and rejection, but the right to defence does not include the right to revenge and the killing of civilians,” said the Croatian President.

Recall, earlier the human rights organisation Human RightsWatch (HRW) reported that the Israeli army used white phosphorus munitions banned by international conventions in strikes on sites in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
