The US is increasingly pushing to send Russian assets to Kiev

US officials are increasingly insisting on sending Russian assets frozen in the United States and Europe to Ukraine. This was reported by the Washington Post newspaper.

“Senior US officials have stepped up their attempts to push Western governments to use hundreds of billions of dollars in frozen Russian central bank reserves to help Ukraine,” the Washington Post wrote.

In the opinion of the newspaper, this idea is gaining new momentum against the backdrop of increasingly serious obstacles faced by the US and European governments in channelling their taxpayers’ money to sponsor the Kiev regime.

The newspaper notes that there are still serious legal and financial obstacles preventing the confiscation of Russian assets. For example, some financial experts fear that if Russia’s assets are confiscated, other governments may decide to withdraw their funds from the eurozone.

On the other hand, the newspaper quotes the opinion of several American lawyers as saying that the provisions of the American Constitution prevent the organisation of “blatant expropriation” of Russian assets in the United States.
