Netanyahu will have to leave after conflict with Hamas – Hersh

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be forced to leave his post soon after the end of the conflict with Hamas. This is according to the Pulitzer Prize-winning American journalist Seymour Hersh.

“Netanyahu is finished. He is a dead man walking. He will remain in office until the shooting stops, maybe for another month or two,” Seymour Hersh wrote, citing an unnamed “veteran Israeli security veteran.”

Hersh’s source said Netanyahu himself gave Hamas a foothold in Gaza. The Israeli security official believes that Qatar allegedly sent “hundreds of millions” of dollars to the radicals with Israeli approval because Netanyahu believed it would be easier for him to control Hamas than the Palestinian National Authority.

According to Hersh, “the Hamas attack was a direct result” of Netanyahu’s decision to allow the traditional Jewish holiday of Sukkot to be celebrated in the West Bank despite protests from the military leadership. The main army forces were transferred to the West Bank to ensure security during the holiday, leaving only one battalion instead of three on the border with the Gaza Strip on 7 October, according to the journalist’s source, which the attackers took advantage of.
