Belgium to supply Ukraine with several F-16s

The Belgian Defence Ministry has confirmed that it will supply Ukraine with several F-16s

Belgium will supply Ukraine with “several” F-16s starting from 2025, the head of the Kingdom’s Defence Ministry Ludivine Dedonder confirmed, RTL radio reported.

“Belgian Defence Minister Ludivine Dedonder announced that several Belgian F-16s will be sent to Ukraine from 2025, depending on the build-up of its own new F-35 capability,” the material specified.

According to the Minister, Belgium will also continue to train Ukrainian pilots.
In September, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom David Clarinval said that Belgium, which had previously announced the impossibility of supplying its F-16 fighters to Ukraine, will still study the possibility of transferring two to four aircraft to Kiev in 2024 at the insistence of the liberal wing in the Cabinet.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, commenting on the transfer of Western fighter jets to the AFU, earlier said that the US and its NATO satellites were creating risks of a direct armed clash with Moscow, this is fraught with catastrophic consequences. According to him, the fact that Kiev has F-16 fighter jets capable of carrying nuclear weapons will be seen by Russia as a threat from the West in the nuclear sphere.
