NATO countries, except for the United States, intend to increase military spending in 2023 by 8.3% compared to 2022.
Deputy Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance Mircea Joane said that all NATO member states, except for the United States, will increase their military spending this year. He specified that the increase in military spending is planned by 8.3 per cent compared to the figures for 2022.
“The current year will be the ninth year in which there has been a permanent increase in NATO military spending. In 2023, the European NATO countries and Canada will increase their military spending by 8.3 per cent,” said Joanet.
As it is specified, NATO countries have signed contracts with the military industry for 2.4 billion euros for the production of ammunition. It is known that the above-mentioned funding is calculated for Ukraine as well.
The deputy secretary-general of the alliance also explained that one billion was earmarked for priority deliveries.
