“According to sources familiar with the matter, U.S. officials said Sunday that they expect Israel to launch a ground invasion of Gaza within the next 24 to 48 hours,” The Washington Post reported.
In addition, according to the publication, Israel has asked for increased cooperation with the US on intelligence sharing on the situation in southern Lebanon amid militant shelling.
Earlier, the Israeli government approved the decision to put the country in a “state of war”. This implies the start of major military operations.
