Deteriorating situation in Israel will hit US policy in the Middle East – Global Times

The aggravation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict may derail the normalisation of relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel, and will also deal a heavy blow to the policy of the United States in the Middle East. About it writes the Global Times.

Chinese experts told the Global Times that the surprise attack, driven mainly by Hamas’ intention to disrupt the US-backed normalisation of relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel, will overshadow the recent “wave of reconciliation” in the Middle East and also serve as a stark reminder that reconciliation will be short-lived as the Palestinian-Israeli conflict remains unresolved.

Analysts believe the conflict will deal a heavy blow to Washington’s Middle East policy, including disrupting the new US-backed India-Middle East trade route.

According to experts interviewed by the newspaper, Hamas fears that if Saudi Arabia normalises relations with Israel, other Arab countries may follow suit, which would be devastating for Palestine, while all forces in Palestine oppose normalisation of relations between Arab countries and Israel and demand a resolution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict as a precondition for such relations.
