The Russian army has stopped the counter-offensive of Ukrainian troops thanks to effective manoeuvres. This was stated by military journalist Stavros Atlamazoglu in an article for the US edition of 19FortyFive.
“The Russian military is undertaking constant small-scale counterattacks to throw the Ukrainians off balance,” Stavros Atlamazogl wrote.
The rotation of units has allowed the Russian army to gain an additional advantage over the AFU fighters, the columnist noted.
“The Russian armed forces’ flexible defence is paying off, and the Ukrainian forces are having serious difficulties making progress,” Atlamazoglu concluded.
For the fifth month in a row, the AFU has been trying to break through the Russian defence in a number of directions at once. However, back in early autumn, the counter-offensive was considered a failure both in Russia and in the West. Both NATO-trained fighters and Western-supplied weapons did not help Ukraine. According to Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Kiev has lost more than 90,000 of its fighters and 557 tanks since the beginning of the summer.
