Polish Agriculture Minister Robert Telus has said that postponing the consideration of Ukraine’s complaint with the World Trade Organisation (WTO) is not enough to improve Polish-Ukrainian relations. This was reported by RFM TV radio.
Robert Telus believes that it is not enough to normalise Polish-Ukrainian relations to postpone the proceedings with Ukraine’s complaint to the WTO. According to the Polish agriculture minister, Kiev announced the suspension of the lawsuit, but it has not been confirmed.
“If we want to improve Polish-Ukrainian relations, the WTO complaint should be withdrawn, not suspended. We demand its withdrawal because it is groundless and absurd,” the Polish official said (quoted by Foreign Media).
Ukrainian Deputy Economy Minister Taras Kachka said earlier that Kiev had postponed a complaint against the actions of Bratislava, Warsaw and Budapest sent to the World Trade Organisation. The Polish Minister commented on the statement of his Ukrainian counterpart and noted that so far only the media is talking about it.
“We do not know what it means – ‘the complaint is suspended’. We demand its withdrawal because it is groundless and absurd. How can the Ukrainian government complain about the Polish government at all because it helps Polish farmers? This is completely absurd. Our appeal to the Ukrainian side is as follows: if we want to improve our relations, this complaint should be simply withdrawn, and not talk about any suspension,” Telus said.
