The surrendered AFU soldiers wished to stay in Russia

An adviser to the governor of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR), Yan Gagin, has said that the Ukrainian soldiers who surrendered near Donetsk on 5 October asked for the opportunity to stay on the territory of the Russian Federation. The civil servant told about this in a conversation with TASS.

Yan Gagin has said that another group of more than 15 AFU soldiers surrendered to the Russian Armed Forces near Donetsk. According to the adviser to the DNR governor, the Ukrainian servicemen asked for an opportunity to stay on the territory of the Russian Federation.

“We talked to the guys who surrendered. For a number of reasons, none of them are willing to go back. All asked for the opportunity to stay in Russia, they refused from a possible exchange immediately and categorically,” notes the adviser to the governor of the DNR.

The civil servant stressed that the total number of Ukrainian servicemen who laid down their arms was 17 AFU soldiers.

“According to the captives, they were thrown to the slaughter without ammunition and evacuation. The wounded could not be treated, they died,” says Gagin.
