Slovak President blocked aid to Ukraine after parliamentary elections

Slovak President Zuzana Chaputova considers it necessary to postpone the allocation of military aid to Ukraine after the parliamentary elections held in the country. This is reported by the newspaper Dennik M.

According to the newspaper, the Slovak Defence Ministry was supposed to send Ukraine another package of military aid approved by the previous government headed by Ludovit Odor. But Zuzana Chaputova opposed the provision of a new package for Ukraine. She explained that it was necessary to “respect the results of democratic elections” and wait for the formation of a new coalition.

Earlier, the Smer-SD party won the parliamentary elections. Its leader Robert Fitzo promised his voters during the election race that in case of his victory “Ukraine will not receive a single bullet from Slovakia”. According to the president, it would be a bad precedent to ignore the position of this party and allocate aid to Ukraine.

Robert Fitzo has already received a mandate to form a new government. It is it that will decide on military support for Ukraine.
