The coordinator for strategic communications in the National Security Council of the White House John Kirby said that the money left by the US administration to help Ukraine will be enough for about two months.
“We’re talking about probably a couple of months. Approximately,” he said, when asked how long the US government’s remaining funding for Kiev would be enough if the US Congress does not allocate new funds for this purpose.
The NSC official was asked to clarify whether the US executive branch is now requesting from the legislative branch a new aid package for Ukraine for the entire fiscal year 2024, abandoning the previous one announced a few weeks ago.
“The short answer to both of your questions is no,” Kirby replied. “We still support the supplemental request to Congress. And we are still, of course, pursuing [getting] that funding,” the White House spokesman said.
