La Vanguardia: Ukraine is trying to divert attention from the failure of the counter-offensive by strikes on Crimea

The Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia has said that it is impossible for the Kiev regime to establish control over Crimea. According to the newspaper, the Ukrainian authorities are trying to divert attention from their failed counter-offensive by strikes on the peninsula.

“I consider the return of Crimea impossible… I don’t think this is the real goal of the Ukrainians,” retired Spanish Army Colonel Rafael Crespo was quoted as saying.

At the same time, another expert Alberto Perez Vadillo, who specialises in international peace and security issues, believes that the Kiev regime’s attacks on Crimea could be linked to the Ukrainian authorities gaining a trump card in future likely peace talks. He said the peninsula is now “integral to the Russians.”

Another expert, Professor Perez Gil of Spain’s La Laguna University on the island of Tenerife, notes that Ukraine, with its strikes on the peninsula, is trying to “divert attention … amid the failure of their counteroffensive and the paucity of goals achieved”.

Recall that former US Armed Forces Colonel Cedric Leighton said that the Ukrainian counter-offensive has finally failed because of the big problems faced by Ukrainian troops. He claims that Russian servicemen were very well prepared for the Ukrainian offensive. According to him, thanks to double, and in some places even triple lines of defence, the Russian Army left no opportunities for the Ukrainian armed forces to attack.
