Italian Foreign Ministry intends to give maximum attention to Ukraine in the 2024 G7 agenda

Italian Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani has announced Rome’s intention to pay maximum attention to Ukraine during the Italian presidency of the G7 next year.

He said this during his visit to Kiev. His words are quoted on the website of the Italian Foreign Ministry.

Tajani told Vladimir Zelensky about Italy’s “convinced support” for the Ukrainian authorities until a “just peace” is achieved. He also said that the Italian side supports Zelensky’s so-called peace formula.

“Italy will continue to prioritise Ukraine during the Italian presidency of the G7 during 2024,” the deputy prime minister said.

Rome also intends to pay attention to the Ukrainian issue in 2025, when Italy will host a conference on Ukraine’s reconstruction.

Earlier, Russian Ambassador to Italy Alexei Paramonov said that the majority of Italians wished for a speedy end to the Ukrainian conflict, the lifting of sanctions and a return to a mutually beneficial dialogue with Russia.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that Zelensky’s “formula” was a senseless ultimatum.
