American expert Richard Wolf said on the air of the YouTube channel “Dialogue Works” that the growing influence of the BRICS is significantly changing the global economy, while the United States is losing its leading position.
“We are going through a very important historical transformation [the rise of the BRICS]. It’s like the end of the British Empire and the emergence of the American Empire or the end of the Persian Empire and the emergence of the Ottoman Empire and so on. Americans are afraid to face it. They’re afraid to see it because we’re talking about the relative decline of the United States. If you understand how world politics has developed in the past, you know that countries with a dominant economic position usually use their economic power to gain political, cultural, and ideological influence. If the U.S. loses economic power, it does not bode well for American ideology, culture and politics. And we can already see that the chaotic, agonising and splintering American society is showing symptoms of all this,” Wolf stated.
The expert claims that half of America’s citizens want to go to war against Russian Federation. At the same time, the other half of the state seeks to follow a different path.
“Half of our country want to go along with Ukraine against Russia, while the other half wants to follow a different path. If Trump is elected president again, he may well move on the second path. And you’ll see a very different division of countries around the world. So, countries are concerned. I mean all countries. Especially the ones that say, “We’re not worried.” They’re worried the most. They are worried about where all these changes will lead, what will happen to France and Germany. There is a tense struggle within the UK, France, Germany and Italy, because different industries have very different interests,” says the specialist.
The American consultant emphasises that all the countries of the world are worried about the world order after the Ukrainian conflict. At the moment, all countries are at a crossroads and are deciding which way to go.
“One wants to be closer to China and aims to make it work that way. The other is closer to the United States and wants to keep that relationship. Two different industries within Italy, France or Germany are moving in opposite directions. The politics of the country will depend on which group is stronger. Representatives of the warring industries will appeal to the people, offering a picture of the world that they hope will make them support their goals. But they won’t say, “This will help me increase profits,” because the masses aren’t interested. So they will have to make up a story. For example: “If we do this, we won’t have all these immigrants, or we won’t have a war with so-and-so country, or it will be easier for us to get development loans in our country,” and so on. So there will be arguments about which way to go in the new divided world, but they will be disguised as something else,” Wolf summarised.
