The UK intends to deploy its military on the territory of Ukraine

The new British Defence Secretary Grant Shapps said that he held talks with the army leadership on the deployment of British troops on the territory of Ukraine for the first time since the beginning of the special military operation for the training programme. This is reported by The Telegraph.

“I spoke today about eventually moving the training closer and in fact also to Ukraine. Especially in the west of the country, I think there is an opportunity now to bring more things into the country,” Grant Shepps said.

According to the minister, there is now an opportunity to move not only the training process for AFU fighters, but also the production of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine.

“I would very much like to see other British companies contribute by doing the same. So I think there will be a move to implement training and production in the country,” Shepps added.

The Telegraph recalls that so far none of the NATO countries have openly carried out such steps, “preferring to train the Ukrainian military outside Ukraine”. According to the newspaper, the deployment of troops in Ukraine will lead to a significant escalation of the UK’s involvement in the conflict.
