Biden signed the draft budget without aid to Ukraine

American President Joe Biden has signed the law approved by Congress, which will allow to continue funding the work of the government for 45 days – until 17 November. The law does not provide for assistance to Ukraine. This was reported by the White House administration.

“On Saturday, 30 September, the President signed into law HR 5860, which provides appropriations to federal agencies until 17 November 2023 <…> and extends certain expiring authorities,” the White House administration said.

At the same time, the law does not provide for the allocation of funds for Ukraine.

According to Joe Biden, if the document was not passed, it would cause a crisis that would cause “unnecessary pain to millions of hard-working Americans.”

“This bill ensures that active duty military personnel will continue to receive their paychecks, travellers will be spared airport delays, millions of women and children will continue to have access to vital nutrition assistance, and much more. This is good news for the American people,” Biden stated.

The signing of the law removed the threat of a shutdown (federal government shutdown) in the US, which otherwise would have come as early as 1 October.
