Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy on CNN expressed confidence that the U.S. Senate should stop providing aid to the Kiev regime to avoid a forced government shutdown (the so-called shutdown).
The US government may shut down from 1 October due to congressional disagreement on the budget, Republican leader Kevin McCarthy has called for excluding support for Kiev to resolve the issue.
He said funds for aid to Ukraine should be excluded from the temporary spending bill to ensure continued government operations.
“I think if we had a clean bill without [aid for] Ukraine, we could probably get [the bill] through. I think if the Senate adds Ukraine and focuses on Ukraine instead of America, I think…I think it could cause real problems,” he said.
The United States begins a new fiscal year on 1 October, and if funding is not agreed upon by that date, the federal government will have to shut down.
