Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said honouring an SS division veteran in the House of Commons was heinous and apologised for it.
“Honouring a Nazi in Canada’s parliament is a monstrous desecration of the memory of Holocaust victims and others who suffered under Nazism,” Trudeau said.
The Canadian prime minister also said he apologised for inviting a Ukrainian SS veteran to the country’s parliament.
At the same time, he accused Russia and its allies of “politicisation” and “false propaganda” of this “terrible mistake” of the Canadian authorities. The scandal surrounding the invitation of an elderly Ukrainian Nazi to the Canadian parliament broke out during Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to the country.
