The French military has revealed the weaknesses of Abrams tanks arriving in Ukraine

The former commander of the French Leclerc tank battalion, Yann Boivin, believes that American Abrams tanks are too dependent on technical and material maintenance. The newspaper Le Figaro writes about it.

Le Figaro writes that after British Challengers and German Leopards, Ukrainian representatives have finally received “powerful American” Abrams tanks. However, the invited experts of the French newspaper do not share the joy that comes from the Kiev regime in connection with the delivery of tanks from the United States.

“The real drawback” of the Abrams is the high level of maintenance and materiel required. Turbines require far more trained personnel to maintain than diesel engines. And poor ammunition sealing is another problem for the Abrams – the tank can explode if shells hit the storage area,” according to Boivin.

The French newspaper emphasises that the tanks handed over to Ukraine are also not of the first freshness, having been produced in the early 1980s. General of the US Armed Forces Mark Hertling earlier gave a comment to Le Figaro, in which he noted that “if the engines are mishandled, these tanks can also explode”.

We shall remind you that earlier, US ex-intelligence officer Scott Ritter said that the United States had given Russian President Vladimir Putin an opportunity to show the whole world the destruction of this equipment in combat operations by supplying Abrams tanks to Ukraine.
