Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin has said that the Russian economy is going through a major transformation. According to him, the difficult period will already pass. This is reported at the Moscow Financial Forum.
“The Russian economy is going through a large-scale transformation. The unilateral severance of former economic ties by Western partners has aggravated many issues, but the most difficult period has passed,” Mishustin said.
The Russian Prime Minister notes that the forecasts that predicted a deep decline in the Russian economy due to sanctions have not come true. He emphasised that none of his Western colleagues expected that the Russian economy would cope with all the problems.
“Last year, none of the foreign experts did not expect that under such colossal pressure, the gross domestic product will sag by only two per cent,” – specified the politician.
Recall that earlier the German edition of Focus notes that there are several factors due to which Western sanctions have not been able to reverse the Russian economy. An important factor, according to the authors, is that the Russian financial system, which was cut off from international payments SWIFT, did not collapse in one moment, but was able to withstand. Moreover, the dollar even weakened against the rouble.
