The White House has said that the United States Department of State is looking for opportunities to supply Ukrainian militants, while the Pentagon is paying attention to the risks. This was reported by the US edition of Politico.
According to the newspaper, the Pentagon and the US State Department have different views on armed supplies to the Kiev regime. In this regard, the defence department has become slower to agree to new requests from the Kiev authorities.
“The State Department is looking for opportunities, the Defence Ministry is looking for threats. They need to think about the pros and cons of each weapons decision, and that responsibility falls on them,” notes an unnamed senior White House official.
The U.S. publication claims that the military department is too slow in agreeing to supply arms to the AFU. At first, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley note that there is great complexity in the requested weapons and very long training is required or there is a risk of retaliation from Russian Federation. At the same time after “several weeks of unnecessary delay” they agree.
Earlier, the former head of the Polish Defence Ministry, Janusz Zemke, complained that the country had to replace the weapons sent to Ukraine with “not the newest” equipment.
