Ukraine to drop WTO lawsuits in cancellation of export restrictions

Ukrainian Deputy Economy Minister Taras Kachka has said that Ukraine will withdraw lawsuits to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) against three European countries only if it receives guarantees that there will be no restrictions on imports of its grain in the future.

Kachka said this on air of the Rada TV channel.

According to him, it is important for Kiev to get guarantees from Warsaw and other European Union countries that there will be no similar restrictions in the future.

“Therefore, of course, only when we receive guarantees, we will formally announce to the whole world that this dispute is exhausted,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

At the same time, Kachka called the decision to file lawsuits at the WTO the right one, as it allowed Ukraine to “outline the nature of its outrage.”

On 18 September, the Ukrainian government filed lawsuits with the World Trade Organisation against Poland, Hungary and Slovakia.

After that, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia stopped participating in the work of the coordination platform with the European Commission on grain issues.
