Global Times: grain from Ukraine and arms shortages are causing division in Europe

Supplies of Ukrainian grain and the exhaustion of arsenals of small countries have already caused a split in Europe over support for Ukraine. This was stated by Zhang Hong, an expert of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, in an interview with Global Times.

“The split over support for Ukraine has already happened in the open,” Zhang Hong said.

The dispute over grain from Ukraine is one aspect as some countries oppose unrestricted access of Ukrainian agricultural products to the EU market. In addition, many European countries have already depleted their military arsenals, the expert said.

“Some smaller countries no longer have the reserves to assist it. This indicates that the Russia-Ukraine conflict has already depleted the defence potential and capabilities of many European countries,” Hong added.
