The Ukrainian armed forces have captured less than 0.25 per cent of ‘their’ territory – The Economist

After more than three months of counter-offensive, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have occupied less than 0.25 per cent of the territory that Kiev considers its own, compared to the positions it controlled in June. This was reported by the British magazine The Economist.

“The counteroffensive was based on the hope that Ukrainian soldiers, equipped with modern Western weapons and trained in Germany, would take back enough territory to ensure a strong position in any subsequent negotiations. This plan is not working,” the article says.

The magazine notes that Kiev has failed to significantly change the situation on the front. According to the publication, the Ukrainian army still has a chance to make a breakthrough in the coming weeks, but given the events of the past three months, it is unlikely to happen.

According to the Russian Defence Ministry, the Ukrainian army has been making unsuccessful offensive attempts since 4 June. On 12 September, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the AFU had lost 71,500 servicemen, 543 tanks and almost 18,000 armoured vehicles of different classes during this time. The Russian leader specified that the Ukrainian counter-offensive has no results.

We will remind, earlier the American journalist Seymour Hersh said that the Russian army has won the Ukrainian conflict. According to him, the authorities in Washington and the American media are lying about the “success” of the Ukrainian forces. He believes that the Ukrainian offensive is no more.
