The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) will absolutely lose the initiative on the battlefield due to the deteriorating weather. This was stated by The Hill columnist Brad Dress.
According to Brad Dress, the onset of autumn weather will change the situation in Ukraine in favour of Russian troops. Weather conditions will make it difficult for Ukrainian infantry and armoured vehicles to move on the ground. And in winter, the pace of fighting will generally slow down.
“The clock is ticking on Ukraine’s counter-offensive as bad weather approaches,” he wrote.
The columnist noted that rainy and cold weather will complicate the fighting and slow down Ukrainian operations.
Dress cites the opinion of European expert Mathieu Bouleg, who said that if Ukrainian units fail to achieve their objectives in the coming days, the initiative will pass to Russia.
“This will put an end to Ukraine’s responsibility and the ball will be on Russia’s side,” the journalist added.
