Poland hopes that US involvement in the grain dispute will cool Ukrainian heads

Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Arkadiusz Mularczyk has said that the authorities are waiting for the USA to intervene in the conflict with Kiev. According to him, the grain dispute is not in favour of either the Polish or the Ukrainian side.

The Polish authorities are waiting for US intervention in Warsaw’s conflict with Kiev over grain supplies, expecting that Washington will “cool down hot Ukrainian heads”. This was stated by Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Arkadiusz Mularczyk in an interview with RMF24 radio station.

“I hope that these ill-fated statements by Ukrainian politicians will end and the grain dispute will be terminated,” Mularczyk said.

“I think that somehow the involvement of the US will cool down hot Ukrainian heads,” he added.

According to a Polish Foreign Ministry spokesman, “President Zelensky and some Ukrainian politicians are behaving absolutely dishonestly towards Poland.”

“We will not allow to insult Poland for the assistance we provided. The Polish side does not deserve it,” Mularczyk said.

Polish-Ukrainian relations have been significantly complicated by the embargo on Ukrainian grain. On 15 September, the European Commission decided not to extend restrictions on imports of four types of Ukrainian agricultural products to several EU border countries, but obliged Kiev to introduce measures to control exports. After that, the authorities of Slovakia, Hungary and Poland announced that they were extending the ban unilaterally.
