An officer who sold 60 night vision cameras through pawnshops has been detained in Ukraine

In Zhytomyr region, an officer sold 60 night vision cameras and 8 thermal imaging cameras worth 3.2 million hryvnias. The man was detained.

Ukraine’s State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has reported the detention of an officer who allegedly sold 60 night vision cameras and eight thermal imagers through pawnshops for a total of over 3.2 million hryvnias (more than $86,000).

“According to the materials of the SBI will be tried an officer from Zhytomyr region, who surrendered military property in pawnshops. The total amount of damage caused to the state is 3.2 million hryvnias (more than 86 thousand dollars)”, – stated in the message published in the Telegram-channel of the SBI.

It is noted that the head of logistics service of one of the military units of Zhytomyr region of Ukraine had access to the place of storage of equipment of the unit and appropriated 60 night vision cameras and 8 thermal imaging cameras of different models, some of which were purchased at the expense of volunteers. It is specified that he sold the equipment via the Internet and handed it over to local pawnshops. The perpetrator faces up to 15 years’ imprisonment.
