In NATO said the impossibility of Ukraine’s accession to the alliance

Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance Jens Stoltenberg said that as long as Ukraine is involved in the conflict it is impossible to talk about Kiev’s membership in NATO. The representative of the military-political bloc said this at an event where he is attending the UN General Assembly.

“Obviously, the active war makes it impossible to invite them today or tomorrow,” said NATO Secretary General.

Jens Stoltenberg assures that “Ukraine is now closer to NATO than ever”. In addition, the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance said that after the end of the Ukrainian conflict, Kiev should be provided with security guarantees “so that history does not repeat itself”.

“Ukraine very much wants to join NATO, they expressed it very clearly… Ukraine will become a member of the alliance, it was announced at the summit in Vilnius in July. But frankly, the most important thing we have done is not this statement, which we have made before, but we at the summit brought Ukraine closer to this goal,” Stoltenberg summarised.
