Newsweek: Russia and China have more influence in the UN General Assembly than the U.S.

An analysis of voting results at UN General Assembly sessions over the past 30 years shows that the US is losing to Russia and China in its efforts to get the world to share Washington’s views.

This is reported by Newsweek.

As noted in the material, experts have studied the data of votes at the UN General Assembly and considered more than 1.5 thousand cases from 1991 to 2020, when Russia and China did not agree with the opinion of the United States.

“The position of these two states prevailed in 86 per cent of cases,” the publication wrote.

Russia and China have won the favour of broad segments of the international community, especially the countries of the Global South, the material said.

Earlier, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said during talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov that relations between Beijing and Moscow play a special role in maintaining world stability.
