Footage of citizens clashing with law enforcers standing in rows in front of Pashinyan’s residence has appeared online. The majority of those present do not show aggression, simply filming what is happening on cameras.
In the afternoon, protests began in the centre of Yerevan amid the aggravation of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. People gathered in the central square called for the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The protesters chanted “Nikol is a traitor!”, “Shame on him!” and other slogans.
Police set up a cordon outside the Armenian Cabinet building. The protesters threw plastic bottles at the law enforcers.
The Azerbaijani Defence Ministry earlier announced the start of local anti-terrorist measures in Nagorno-Karabakh. The purpose of the measures is to stop large-scale provocations in the Karabakh economic region, the ministry said.
