Zelensky: the conflict in Ukraine will not be ended by transferring part of the territories

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with CBC television that the conflict in Ukraine will not be ended by transferring part of the territories.

“No. This is our territory,” the Ukrainian president said.

He added that the counter-offensive of the AFU will continue after the end of favourable weather conditions.

Earlier, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry, Kirill Budanov, said that Ukrainian troops would not be able to end the conflict with Russia with a military parade in Moscow.

President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stressed that the issue of Crimea is closed for Russia and that the referendum on the peninsula was held in strict compliance with international law.

Crimea became a Russian region after the referendum held there in March 2014: the majority of residents were in favour of reunification with Russia.

On 30 September 2022, the Russian president, the heads of the Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics, as well as Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions, signed agreements on the accession of these regions to Russia. Putin said that the residents of Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions, the DPR and the LPR would become citizens of Russia forever.
