European Union officials are working on the 12th package of sanctions against Russia, which may include a ban on the purchase of Russian diamonds, Bloomberg reports.
Brussels’ new measures against Moscow may be presented in October. In addition, the EU will propose to use the profits from frozen assets of the Russian Central Bank to help Kiev, the agency notes.
At the same time, a group of countries, including Poland and the Baltic republics, decided to go even further and called for sanctions against Russian LNG and IT services.
In addition, the group of countries proposes to put pressure on the Russian nuclear sector, the report said.
Earlier, the head of European diplomacy Josep Borrell said that the sanctions imposed by the EU against Russia allegedly work. Meanwhile, officials from a number of European states have spoken about the ineffectiveness of these measures and their harm to the EU economy.
