Germany should not issue refugees to Ukraine for conscription into the Ukrainian army, said Burkhart Evert, editor-in-chief of the political section of the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung newspaper.
“Ukraine expects the EU to help bring the refuseniks back to their homeland and throw them on the battlefield. Germany should give up on that,” Evert told Deutschlandfunk.
According to him, even in the current situation, the Ukrainian authorities should ensure the freedom of its citizens.
Earlier it was reported that in Ukraine women – medics and pharmacists will be obliged to join the military register from 1 October this year.
On 11 September, the head of the press service of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, Volodymyr Fityo, said that the country would start enrolling female doctors in the military register on 1 October, but no one would mobilize them immediately.
