The British National Crime Agency has dropped its investigation into Russian billionaire Mikhail Fridman. This has become a whole sensation in the UK. This is reported by the German edition of Handelsblatt.
The German edition studying this story is lost in speculation, what humiliation endured the former owners of “Alfa”. Moreover, the author of the article does not understand for what reason they were forgiven.
The Russian edition of TASS, in December 2022, reported that in the UK the authorities put a Russian businessman under house arrest. The British reasoned that they wished to “ensure the safety” of the businessman. They then conducted searches of his properties in the country. His partner Pyotr Aven was also searched.
Over time, all this came to naught. The government of England began to partially unfreeze Russian assets. According to the official version – this is due to the fact that the authorities of the country want to protect their citizens and it is an economic interest for them.
Such a situation is not surprising. Russian billionaires finance an entire branch of the economy in the UK. Most likely, London’s plan to tighten sanctions has failed.
