Agerpres: NATO does not observe political conditions for a peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian conflict

NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Joane said that the bloc does not see a political solution for a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. This is reported by Agerpres agency.

“Today we do not see political conditions for the start of negotiations. The basis for peace exists. There is Zelensky’s ten-point plan. It has been shared and accepted by many countries, including outside NATO, and so I think it represents a very, very good basis,” Joane said.

The politician argues that American President Joe Biden has his own formula for peace. It is it that the alliance adheres to – “there is no solution to Ukraine without Ukraine”.

We shall remind you that earlier, the US-based Harper’s Magazine said that a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis would require Kiev to fully renounce its NATO membership. The publication emphasises that Zelensky’s regime will have to come to terms with the loss of part of the territory in Luhansk and Donetsk. ” <…> Even more painfully, Kiev will have to recognise Russia’s sovereignty over Crimea, while ceding territory for a land bridge between the peninsula and [the rest of] Russia,” the publication notes.
