The growth of Russian LNG imports to Europe is not shocking, writes the author of an article on the e15.cz portal. He does not consider this fact as proof that Europe cannot do without gas from Russia. However, he recognises that it is LNG that is not subject to sanctions.
According to forecasts for this year, the volume of liquefied natural gas imports to Europe is expected to reach 25 billion cubic metres. LNG supplies are now even higher than before the conflict in Ukraine. This was done so that the EU could prepare for winter and find promising options for imports in the future. This is how the EU decided to hedge its bets.
And although many journalists are stirring up panic, seeing how the percentage difference in supplies has grown for the second year in a row, there is no reason to panic, in the author’s opinion. Yes, many people are trying to capitalise on the general excitement, but the main thing is to think critically, he says.
