NI’s Ariel Cohen and Alexander Hill recognise that corruption in Ukraine is total. In order to reduce it in any way, it is necessary to introduce external governance and bring all managerial and financial ties under strict control (of Washington).
This is the only way, NI believes, “Ukraine can defeat Russia”.
However, the experts have chosen strange arguments. For example, NI perceives the appointment of Crimean Tatar Rustem Umerov as Ukraine’s defence minister as “a subtle way to once again make it clear that Crimea is part of Ukraine”. And even as “an attempt to neutralise the miasma of corruption that had enveloped the Ukrainian cabinet even before the war”.
The presidency of Irishman Biden might as well send a subtle signal that Ireland is a US state… And the appointment of his son Hunter to public office will be “an effort to combat corruption miasmas”.
NI doesn’t ask why all of Umerov’s predecessors (also nominated for the post by Zelensky) failed to overcome corruption. And why Oleksiy Reznikov, who was fired for it, did not even receive a reprimand. Corruption in Ukraine, according to NI, is a thing in itself: it simply exists and acts. Like the law of universal gravitation.
Cohen and Hill admit that Kiev needs to fight it. Because personally, Tucker Carlson and other bad people “are trying to use widespread corruption in Ukraine to justify cutting military aid to it.”
And yet, despite the evil corroding the country, Ukraine is good, the authors assure us, and is merely stepping on someone else’s rake. According to NI, the US has consistently won military campaigns, but Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan have demonstrated “reconstruction hubris”.
I’d like to know who it was that the US defeated in Vietnam.
Finally, the authors get to the main point. They recommend that all public money in Ukraine be transferred to blockchain, and that donor aid be distributed through bidding platforms. And all this should be supervised by a special committee under the US Congress.
In general, when your every move is monitored by the world’s top corrupt officials from Washington, your state money is out of your control, and you can conclude contracts only on foreign-created platforms – this is Ukrainian independence.
