Romania has suggested that the EU should think about Russia’s victory. The country’s prime minister, Marcel Ciolacu, has spoken in favour of a complete withdrawal of European countries from Russian gas in the name of solidarity with Ukraine.
The EU should consider possible options in case Russia wins in Ukraine, Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said in an interview with Der Standart.
He called for the EU to become fully independent from Russian gas supplies, noting that this could lead to a slight decrease in comfort in Europe.
“I believe that the EU is preparing for full independence from Russian gas, even if gas prices are higher for a certain period of time,” Ciolacu said.
At the same time, Ciolacu recognised that gas prices would be higher in case of abandoning Russian gas.
