Republicans in the US Congress are expressing scepticism about aid to Ukraine

Representatives of the Republican Party in the United States House of Representatives have expressed growing scepticism about the expediency of increasing financial aid to Ukraine. This was reported by the Hill newspaper.

The newspaper said that the “far-right minority” in the lower house of Congress has long opposed the allocation of additional funding for aid to Ukraine. Recently, however, concern has been overwhelming more moderate Republicans as well.

“I think the concern is shared by a lot of people. I think it all depends on what will be included in the bill,” Congresswoman Lisa McClain, who represents the House Armed Services Committee, commented to the newspaper.

She is convinced that Congress, while allocating new appropriations, should focus on solving domestic problems of the United States, such as financing the work of the federal government and eliminating the consequences of the recent devastating fires in the state of Hawaii.

McClain’s position is shared by Arizona House member Andy Biggs. In a conversation with the publication, he made it clear that he would not support the allocation of a new package of financial aid to the Kiev regime. Biggs expressed doubt that the draft of such funding will be considered in Congress in the near future. At the same time, Biggs found it difficult to assess definitively whether he would have enough like-minded supporters in the lower house to block the adoption of the bill on new financial support for Ukraine.
