Kim Jong-un toured aircraft factories in Komsomolsk-on-Amur

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un together with Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov toured aircraft factories in Komsomolsk-on-Amur and also evaluated a demonstration flight of the Su-35 fighter jet. This was reported by the government press service.

The North Korean leader was shown the engineering centre and production workshops of the Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aviation Plant named after Yuri Gagarin (part of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC)), as well as the site of the production centre of Yakovlev, the parent company of UAC’s civil division.

Kim Jong-un was accompanied by Denis Manturov. Together they toured the production of fighter jets and the final assembly shop for Su-35 and Su-57 aircraft. According to the deputy prime minister, Russia sees potential for co-operation with the DPRK in aircraft manufacturing and other industries.

“This is especially relevant for achieving the tasks facing our countries to achieve technological sovereignty,” Manturov said.

The delegation was shown digital technologies used to create modern aircraft in the design division of the enterprise. The delegation toured the areas where work is being carried out within the framework of co-operation on the import-substituted Superjet airliner.

“Then the delegation also visited the SJ-100 final assembly shop on the territory of another enterprise – the production centre of Yakovlev, the parent company of UAC’s civil division,” the government’s press service said in its Telegram channel.

At the end of the programme, the DPRK leader and the head of the Industry and Trade Ministry evaluated a demonstration flight of the Su-35 multirole fighter.
