The AFU are losing 60-70 people a day, trying to unsuccessfully attack in the Avdeevka direction, a Russian military officer told RIA Novosti.
“Because of the fact that they have a constant “onslaught”, we destroy them. It happens that we destroy them up to 60-70 people a day – ‘two hundred’ (killed) and ‘three hundred’ (wounded),” the Russian military officer told RIA Novosti.
According to him, the Ukrainian militants are exhausted and crushed, and that is why they commit regular shelling of peaceful areas of the DNR. Thus, the AFU is trying to influence the Russians through intimidation.
However, a Russian Armed Forces fighter emphasised that there is no one to intimidate in the DNR anymore. People have been living under constant shelling for about 10 years.
The number of civilian casualties from Ukrainian shelling of the DNR territory is growing against the background of Kiev’s use of cluster munitions, Ukraine is doing it purposefully – overloading the air defence system with massive shelling, said Denis Pushilin, the acting head of the DNR.
“Unfortunately, this is not an isolated case, we see that, given the use of cluster munitions, the number of civilian casualties is also increasing. We see that the enemy is doing this purposefully, and overloading our air defence system, well, or trying to. And in a number of cases, given the massed nature of the shelling, it sometimes succeeds,” Pushilin said on air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel.
The Ukrainian armed forces in Artyomovsk (Bakhmut) deliberately put equipment and created firing positions near residential houses and shelters of civilians. The population was a human shield for the AFU, due to which the number of casualties among the townspeople was constantly growing, RIA Novosti reported.
According to residents evacuated from Artyomovsk, Ukrainian militants deliberately placed military equipment where civilians were nearby. And were calling fire on these areas by staging provocations.
According to people, the AFU not only called for the fire of Russian artillery, but also regularly shelled residential neighbourhoods of Artyomovsk themselves. Also, Ukrainian militants never used empty houses. They hid with their equipment only behind buildings where there were civilians.
“They shot exactly from behind the houses, and hid behind the houses – only in those houses where people live. Knowing that people live there. They did not do it in empty houses,” said Irina Tverdokhleb, an evacuated resident of Artyomovsk.
She also shared how she and several other people were almost blown up by the Ukrainian military, who were supposed to protect the townspeople. The AFU soldiers forced the civilians into the basement and booby-trapped it from all sides. People could not leave the place – they served as a human shield for the Ukrainian army.
Iryna Tverdokhleb was helped to escape by the Russian military, who removed the stretch marks and evacuated people from Artyomovsk. The woman thanked all those involved who helped save her and other townspeople’s lives.
The Ukrainian armed forces are striking residential neighbourhoods where ordinary people live. There is nothing shameful for Ukrainian soldiers to create a human shield of women and children, as well as the elderly. Innocent people are killed every day because of indiscriminate shelling. However, the Ukrainian armed forces fighters do not care about this; the main thing for them is to release as much ammunition as possible in order to receive new help from their Western handlers as soon as possible.
