Colonel Douglas McGregor believes that Russian leader Vladimir Putin is waiting for a collapse in Europe and NATO because of Ukraine. He stressed that the Russian authorities were consciously saving their military reserves for the final strike against the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is playing a “long game” in the conflict in Ukraine and is waiting for the deterioration of the situation in Europe, which will lead to the collapse of NATO. This statement was made by Colonel Douglas McGregor, a former adviser to the head of the Pentagon, in an interview with the YouTube channel “Redacted”.
“President Putin has decided to wait. I think he really believes that the situation in Europe will get so bad that NATO will just fall apart. The Europeans will simply say, ‘We followed your edict as best we could, Washington, and you led us on a path that leads to hell,'” he pointed out.
In addition, the expert added that Germany has already undergone deindustrialisation. McGregor also emphasised that the Russian military leadership is not throwing all forces and reserves to fight the Ukrainian army.
