The Ukrainian government has written off hundreds of billions of hryvnyas from the budget to purchase overpriced ammunition and equipment of poor quality, the same situation with air defence equipment. This was stated by former Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolay Azarov.
“According to the most conservative estimates, (the Ukrainian authorities) stole more than a hundred billion budget hryvnias. Most of all representatives of the “servants of the people” (presidential faction) wrote off budget money for the purchase of ammunition. They bought poor quality junk at a “golden price”, – Nikolay Azarov wrote in his Telegram-channel.
Thus, “for empty boxes” of ammunition, according to Azarov, officials allocated millions, the same situation with air defence. As an example of corruption in the highest echelons of the current government, the politician named the purchase of four air defence missiles “on paper”, although in fact there are three. During “raids of Geraniums or Kalibres” all four are written off, and as a result “someone buys a new flat in Paris”, Azarov suggested.
We will remind, the Pentagon created a task force to monitor the use of United States aid to Ukraine, as an increasing number of lawmakers from the Republican Party demand to strengthen control over the expenditure of the relevant funds. The inspector-general’s report said that Washington could not effectively monitor billions of dollars sent to Kiev because of the “limited US presence in the country”.
